NPSB Placement Testing 2023-2024

Students seeking to transfer to or /enter the district from homeschool, private school, or out of state nonpublic schools, will be required to take a placement test to determine placement for the school year. Placement testing is available for students entering grades 1-9. Students will be tested on English language arts and mathematics skills to determine placement and/or interventions needed for the school year.

Placement testing in Natchitoches Parish Schools will be held from Monday, July 24, 2023 through Thursday, July 27, 2023. To schedule a placement test, please contact Sandy Irchirl at sirchirl@npsb.la or call us at our Central Office at (318) 352-2358.

Students seeking to enter grades 5 and 9 will participate in state placement testing. The state placement test is a computer-based test that is designed to measure students’ knowledge and skills in English language arts and mathematics based on the Louisiana Student Standards in grades 4 and 8. The test is consistent with the annual LEAP state assessments for grades 3-8. Both English language arts and mathematics have three sessions.

Placement tests will be scored locally, except for students taking the state placement test. State placement tests for grades 5 and 9 are scored by DRC, Louisiana’s testing vendor, and will provide results based on the same five achievement levels reported for LEAP assessments.
