The Natchitoches Parish School Board is proud to announce the 2025 Teachers of the Year, representing outstanding educators at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. This year’s honorees demonstrate exceptional dedication, leadership, and commitment to the academic and personal growth of students across the district.
Elementary Teacher of the Year
Cristy Gentry – NSU Elementary Lab School (1st Grade)
Mrs. Gentry is known for creating a classroom filled with curiosity, creativity, and joy. She also serves as a Mentor Teacher and Technology Coordinator, supporting schoolwide instructional innovation. Principal Caron Coleman shared, “She inspires students and colleagues through her positivity, leadership, and passion for learning.”
Middle School Teacher of the Year
Jonathan Parish – Natchitoches Magnet School (Social Studies & ELA)
Mr. Parish sets a high bar for academic excellence and student engagement. His most recent LEAP results show more than 90% proficiency in both subjects. Principal Antavious Roberson noted, “His dedication and strong instruction consistently exceed expectations.”
High School Teacher of the Year
Zenda Owens – Natchitoches Central High School (Math)
Mrs. Owens is recognized for her ability to challenge and support students through clear instruction and a caring approach. Principal Micah Coleman said, “She fosters confidence, values every student, and is deeply committed to their success.”
NPSB congratulates Mrs. Gentry, Mr. Parish, and Mrs. Owens on this well-deserved recognition and thanks them for their continued dedication to excellence in education.
